How are we to transfer information to future generations about nuclear waste repositories? What is the key information to be provided and who will be able to understand the message?

The project has developed a so-called Key Information File, a document containing information that describes the Swedish nuclear waste storages in an intelligible way to people lacking special knowledge about nuclear technology and radioactivity. The document will form one part of a larger strategy of transferring information to future generations about the nuclear waste repositories.

Furthermore, we lay a meta perspective on the societal processes that characterises the work with the nuclear storages, concerning the encounter between technical and existential questions, power hierarchies and their changes over time, and how actors articulate different future scenarios and their consequences.

The project ran 2021-2023 and was financed by the Swedish Nuclear fuel and Waste Management Co, SKB.
