I have been studying insects from my early childhood: today, I work with preserving beetles in Sweden and in Turkey.

Presentation

My research revolves mainly around old trees, oak-living beetles and conservation. I have explored various aspects of preserving the beetle fauna on old oak trees.

For example, I have developed and tested artificial oak-wood nest boxes for oak living species. Such boxes can successfully support local insect diversity and provide “stepping-stones” between isolated areas.

The beetle fauna in old oak trees is very diverse and contain many rare and threatened species. As oak habitat has decreased in Sweden and Europe, it is important to map and understand how this diversity can be protected. To broaden this knowledge I have a long standing cooperation with researchers in Turkey, and I manage a pan-European oak beetle project.

I’m also a member of the and for .
