Molecular Ion Channel Physiology

Nerve cells are close to the threshold that makes them fire rapid nervous impulses.

An altered threshold can cause epilepsy or pain. We study a new mechanism by which different substances can restore the threshold by opening or closing of voltage-gated ion channels.
