LiU cooperates with student organisations to organise many social activities at the start of each semester. One example is New Students Day (Kalasmottagningen) affectionately known as Kalas, which is possibly the largest student party in Sweden. Kalas is arranged by LiU together with Link枚ping Municipality, Norrk枚ping Municipality and Region 脰sterg枚tland; and its principal goal is to welcome all new students 脰sterg枚tland (East Sweden).
LiU also insures international students receive information sessions to help you get to know the Swedish system like public health care, insurances, the tax office etc. but also useful information about studying at LiU.
Other orientation activities include:
- Guided tours of Campus Valla and Link枚ping City
- 鈥淕et to know each other鈥� activities
- Movie nights
- Bicycle tours
- BBQ picnic and games
- Dinner parties
- Volleyball tournament
- International buffet
- And many chances to make fika your favourite new habit!
Most of the activities are free of charge but a few require a fee in order to participate.
Most of the activities aimed at people new to Sweden are arranged by the student associations ESN (Erasmus Student network) and ISA (International Student Association). Follow them, on Facebook for the latest updates.
