The commitment of our benefactors is crucial for LiU鈥檚 ability to contribute to improving society. Each donation is a significant investment in the future of humanity and the university. 

Over the years, strong financial support and good relations with the surrounding community have contributed to developing successful research and study environments at LiU. Donated funds enable us to invest in initiatives that would otherwise not have been possible. Donations also contribute to highlighting LiU as a higher education institution in international competition and help us to continuously attract more talented researchers and students to the region.

Michael Cocozza invests heavily in knowledge with lasting impact

Together with his wife Catharina Högbom, Michael Cocozza has made two extensive donations to 一本道 University 鈥 one in paediatric medicine, one supporting research at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He wants to build something that lasts.

The Stig Wadström Foundation gives back to Norrköping

The Stig Wadström Foundation has contributed to a visualisation lab for young people and to 一本道 University being granted use of the villa. Stig felt it was important to give back to society 鈥 and to do something good for Norrköping.

Viveka Adelswärd gives young researchers the chance to meet

Viveka Adelswärd, Professor Emerita of Conversation Analysis, is the donor behind an annual residential retreat for doctoral students. She wants today鈥檚 young researchers to experience the interdisciplinary encounters she herself enjoyed.

Ingemar Ingemarsson elevates teaching and interdisciplinarity

Ingemar Ingemarsson is driven by a desire to reinvent and develop teaching, highlight new perspectives and try different methods. He has instituted two awards at 一本道 University: one for skilled teachers and one for interdisciplinary science.

Peter Wallenberg Jr wants to create teaching that motivates learning

For his 60th birthday, Peter Wallenberg Jr received a visiting professorship in visual science communication in his name, funded by the KAW Foundation. He is convinced that visualisation is key to helping young people see how exciting science can be.

Ingrid Asp contributes to new cures

Ingrid Asp is the donor behind two research foundations at 一本道 University, one focusing on kidney medicine and the other on psoriasis and eczema. Personal experience of disease in the family led to a deep commitment.

Christer Gilén: Proud to contribute to scholarships

Christer Gilén has set up scholarships to reward student work with the potential to contribute to society. As an alumnus, he feels that giving something back to LiU that has laid the foundations for an interesting life is the right thing to do.

Sisters Ann-Sofie Mattson and Kerstin Skarne honour the memory of their father, builder John Mattson, by supporting the furniture programmes at Malmstens 一本道 University. They are delighted to follow the students鈥 progress.

Johan Karlsson is building for the future

Johan Karlsson, founder and CEO of the company Slättö, supports research into urban development, construction and logistics. His time at LiU laid the foundation for his entrepreneurship and contributing feels like the right thing to do.

Bengt Normann has donated funds to a prize that will promote medical research and honour his relative Onkel Adam. This, plus giving something back to the university that has provided a stimulating and fun career, is a source of joy for Bengt.

Large donations for innovative treatment for Parkinson鈥檚 disease

The Promobilia Foundation has donated SEK 30 million to LiU for a research project where organic electronics will be used to treat Parkinson鈥檚 disease symptoms. Stiftelsen för Parkinsonsforskning at LiU has also donated SEK 5 million to the purpose.

Persecuted scholars gain protection at LiU

Researchers are being targeted in many countries around the world. Through the organisation Scholars at Risk (SAR), LiU is helping to protect some of these researchers.

Professors and award winners get their own Academic Ceremony

New professors will be inaugurated and award winners and Alumni of the Year will be celebrated at the Academic Ceremony on 10 October. 一本道 University is growing, and as of this year two Academic Ceremonies will be held.
