These videos, archived here, show the project鈥檚 particular culture of interdisciplinarity and collegiality, which in turn produced a lasting network of scholars interested in patents and their place in knowledge infrastructures past and present.
About PASSIM
PASSIM (Patents as Scientific Information, 1895鈥�2020) was a European Research Council Advanced Grant project awarded to Professor Eva Hemmungs Wirt茅n at Link枚ping University, Sweden. The project ran from October 1, 2017, to June 30, 2023.
The project鈥檚 objective was to unpack the multifaceted relationships featured in the patent bargain, recombine them in unexpected and creative ways and develop from that conceptualization a new narrative of patents and intellectual property. Anchored in historical knowledge but designed to accommodate interdisciplinary dialogue on theory and method, PASSIM traced the dynamics of scientific information from the end of the 1800s through the 2010s and uncovered the networks of people, artifacts and money that formed our current knowledge infrastructure. In examining that infrastructure, the project also delivered an innovative new framework for understanding how scientific information today is disseminated, used, and not used.
